Jeff Hoverson

Representative Jeff Hoverson has served in North Dakota’s House of Representatives since 2018.

Jeff understands that North Dakota has a real opportunity to become the most free and true Republican state in the nation. He is a vital promoter of the conservative grassroots movement occurring across the state. Jeff has emerged as a leader among a growing number of citizens who are waking up to the reality that a very real Marxist ideology is making its way across our nation and around the globe by unelected bureaucrats who do not have individuals’ best interests in mind. North Dakota has not been immune to the rise in authoritarianism in all three branches of state and federal government . During the last two years, Jeff has been an advocate for health freedom, free speech, and the right to provide for one’s family regardless of a declared state of emergency. Jeff remains committed to advocating for individual liberty and fighting against the soft tyranny that arose in response to Covid-19.

He cares about freedom for the next generation which is why he has introduced bills proactively rather than reactively. Bills that don’t ask which way the wind will blow, rather “what is the right thing to do right now”.

Jeff is most known for introducing the bill that ended up over-riding the Governor’s veto – The Mask Bill. Jeff is grateful for the many grassroots conservatives who worked so hard to ensure HB 1323 was passed into law. Jeff stated at the time, “Citizens should not have to work so hard for a morsel of freedom”. Because of Jeff’s leadership and courage, the Governor and the Department of Health are now
prohibited from mandating masks in the state of North Dakota.

Jeff is unapologetically pro-life and wants North Dakota to lead the way in ending abortion in this country. He introduced House Bill 1313 which aimed to nullify Roe v. Wade and stop legal abortion in ND. While this bill did not pass, it played an important part in shifting the conversation around abortion. When asked why he would introduce a bill that would likely not pass, Jeff’s answer was always, “Because it is the right thing to do, period.”

Jeff knows that if enough true conservative legislators are elected, we can and will lead in the fight for life. Jeff wholeheartedly supports and campaigns on the Republican Party platform which is clearly reflected in his bills and his votes in Bismarck. Currently, he has a 95% rating on a ND ratings scale. On a personal note, Jeff is happily married to JoAnn, and has six children, three daughters-in-law, and a granddaughter. His love for his family is second only to his love for Jesus Christ. Jeff is a pastor in the Lutheran Brethren church in Minot and is blessed by the support of his beloved congregation.

Jeff enjoys walking outdoors, shooting at the range, gathering with family, and homeschooling his children. One of Jeff’s favorite “sports” is talking theology and politics. He is a native North Dakotan and has lived and worked in all four corners. He has lived in Minot since 2004. Jeff truly believes North Dakota has the potential to become a beacon as the freest state in the nation.

“If we hold fast to our Christian roots and solid politics for individual freedom, that can and will happen. It will be place that everyone, from any race, religion, or creed can enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness like nowhere else.”
